10 Ways to Teach Ourselves and/our Kids Godly Self-Confidence

My thoughts this past week have been on confidence. Specifically, I am talking about how to teach my kids to be confidant and how to walk in confidence myself.

We all want confidant, healthy kids right? We all want to be confidant in our everyday lives, right?

I mean, we all want our kids to make the right choices when they are our faced by peer pressure. I myself would also like to be able to make right choices everyday as an adult.

We all want happy and healthy kids who aren’t afraid of taking life by the reins and boldly pursuing all their dreams.

For two days last week, I attended a women in ag empowering meeting. It was amazing and uplifting. I came away with a ton of inspiration and I learned so much. One of the topics was confidence.

My thoughts and prayers since then have been on gaining more confidence, not only for myself, but also for my kids.

In order for us to have confidence-an unshakable, unchanging assurance- we must be founded on dependence in God.

My thoughts: I want myself and my kids to be determined not by their emotions or thoughts of those around us, but by the unchanging, deep riches from above.

And that kind of self-worth comes from daily dependence on God.

We all understand that a daily relationship with Him is the only way to the rich, full life that we all long for. Allowing God’s view of us to shape our self-perception is the key to authentic confidence.

Imagine how different our world would be if we could teach our kids this kind of godly confidence and if we, ourselves could remember it each day!

10 Ways Teach Ourselves and/our Kids Godly Self-Confidence

(Note: I have written each one from God’s perspective as if He was speaking to us.)

Way #1: My love for you lasts forever. (Jeremiah 31:3 NJV)

Way #2: I know your good thoughts and your bad thoughts. I also know your heart. (Psalm 131:1 NJV)

Way #3: I made you special. I made you “You.” (Psalm 139:14 NJV)

Way #4: I am here for you each and everyday. I am here for you when things are tough and easy. (Isaiah 43:2 NJV)

Way #5: My love for You is not conditional. It is a gift that I give you. (Ephesians 1:4, 2:4-5 NJV)

Way #6: We all make mistakes, and that is okay, and when you do make a mistake let’s chat about it so that nothing comes between our relationship. (Psalm 32: 3-5 NJV)

Way #7: I love you how you are at all times. (Hosea 2: 14-23 NJV)

Way #8: I will never stop loving you. Never. (Romans 8: 31-39 NJV)

Way #9: I promise to fill your life with great things, if you let me. (Psalm 1:1-3)

Way #10: Trust me and let me direct your feet. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

These ways will assure us all of God’s great love and impart a life of godly self-confidence that no one can take away.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct they paths.

I challenge each of you to read Proverbs 4:5-22 this week. These verses tell us not to worry about what other people think and to let God’s voice guide us.

In closing, I know that God loves us all and cares for us and that he will replenish our souls when we think that we can not continue on. He will give us confidence, strength and hope.

My prayer is for God to use me as a testimony of my love for life. It is also my prayer that I teach our kids the same.
